What are anti-wrinkle injections?
At Bayside Family Medical & Musculoskeletal Practice in Glenelg we can treat your wrinkles with our anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. Anti-wrinkle injections are designed to stop the muscle from contracting and forming wrinkles. This can essentially leave the patient with a smoother and more youthful appearance. However, it is extremely important to understand that anti-wrinkle injections do not immediately improve static lines, or lines that are present at rest. These however, can often be treated by adding volume with dermal fillers.
Treat your wrinkles
Generally there are four different types of wrinkles and each may require different treatment. After your assessment we will determine the most appropriate solution to treat your needs. The different types of wrinkles include:
- Fine lines –these are small discrete lines on the face that are almost parallel to each other
- Permanent creases – deep creased lines in the skin that become increasingly permanent over time, especially with sun exposure
- Expression lines – these are wrinkles that are caused by facial muscle movement
- Gravitational folds – these are lines that are due to the effects of ageing and as the name suggests gravity, these become increasingly obvious as skin begins to fold and sag
Will my anti-wrinkle treatment hurt?
Every patient has a different pain threshold however, as a non-invasive treatment we often find that our patients feel little to no pain during treatment. Our anti-wrinkle injection treatments can be done in no time at all, we often see patients in and out in 20 minutes! Patients can expect to see the results of their anti-wrinkle injections after 3-7 days and the treatment can last for approximately 3-4 months.
